During Construction phase of Bandar Abbas Oil Terminal Project and due to its geographical location with high emissivity index in hot months of the year in the south of Iran and consequently unbalanced expansion and shrinkage of the floor, 3 out of 31 tanks of Bandar Abbas Oil Terminal project have faced with sudden movement from its foundation. Each of these 3 tanks had a 40,000 M3 capacities and 20M height. Although this movement has occurred out of our control, STEAM experienced engineers decided to re-allocate these tanks through Jack Lifting method. The lifting and locking of storage tanks require extreme accuracy and efficiency.
The method encompasses the following steps. First, our engineers used 6 Horizontal Enerpac jacks with a 100MT capacity which transferred the forces to the tank body through 6 steel elements and used concrete ring wall as support. Additionally, they put some pipes under annular plates for reducing friction between the tank floor and foundation. The movement based on the above method has been done successfully during 4-5 days for each tank by setting 300bar pressure on each Jack.
